Experience

I offer all forms of financial advice, but the majority of my clients are either approaching or in retirement. I also provide Inheritance Tax planning advice and have been involved with a number of trust investments.

I am Chartered, STEP qualified and hold Long Term Care qualifications.

I have been a financial adviser for over 20 years having previously worked within solicitor and accountancy firms. Prior to that I worked for several of the major pension and investment providers and have been in the industry for over 30 years.

Personal Interests

My main hobby is Golf which keeps me busy at weekends, I also enjoy weekly yoga classes. I am married and have two grown up daughters.

Good morning, I'm Ian Poysden, Chairman of IEP Financial. I live on a small holding in Ditchling with my wife Michelle. I have two children, Joshua and Zoe.

I've been at IEP financial since the beginning. We actually were called Allfield Financial Group and we rebranded six years ago.

I'd like to think that both myself personally and the business are approachable and personable to our clients and that we do our best to decipher some of the jargon that exists in the financial services industry.

I really enjoy getting involved with the local charities in Brighton and Sussex surrounding areas. We've worked with many different ones; Dementia Support, Martletts, Chestnut Tree and at the moment we're working quite closely with The Starr Trust.

I've always enjoyed following the stock market and other asset classes, trying to interpret that for our clients in a way that they can understand and trying to ensure that they're linked to the client's level of risk, which over time changes.

It's really natural that in our early years, we probably don't care too much about the level of risk we're taking. But when we move closer to retirement, we probably want to protect that and look after that in a slightly more orderly and safe fashion.

I really enjoy working with out clients to find out their dreams and aspirations and to achieve really good outcomes for them. In addition to that, the ongoing review process, everything changes in life and client reviews are an essential part of that. As people's children get older, people move into pre-retirement and then latterly into post retirement.

I really enjoy my golf and cricket. I'm getting a bit old to play cricket, but I'm just about hanging on in Ditchling Second Eleven. It's over 20 years now that we've sponsored Sussex County Cricket club. We also sponsor 4 or 5 clubs at amateur level.

I really enjoy the people that I work with, specifically I really enjoy our Christmas Party every year where everyone can let their hair down a little bit.

I really enjoy my smallholding at home. If you've had a particularly tough day and you sit down with a couple of pigs on the farm, they don't care that you've had a bad day, and they'll just have a little nibble of your toes.
